The courses listed below are recommended prerequisites for admission into the Doctor of Chiropractic program. A cumulative total of 90 semester hours is required with a grade of “C” or better and a minimum grade point average of a 2.50 on a 4.0 scale. This suggested coursework is based upon information collected in 2009-10 and is subject to change.
Suggested prerequisite courses at Henry Ford Community College:
Biology-6 semester hours, 2 courses required with labs:
BIO 131, 143, 150, 152, 233, 234, 251
General/Inorganic Chemistry-6 semester hours required
Both courses are required: CHEM 141 and CHEM 142
Organic Chemistry-6 semester hours required
Both courses are required: CHEM 241/243 and CHEM242/244
Physics and related studies-6 semester hours
This requirement may be met with either two physics courses, which one must include lab or 3 semester hours of physics with lab and 3 semester hours in biomechanics, kinesiology, statistics or exercise physiology
Must complete this course: Physics: 131
Select one course from the following: PHYS 132, MATH 141, HPE 150
English Language skills-6 semester hours required:
Courses from the English, Communications, and Speech department will fulfill this requirement.
Psychology-3 semester hours required:
Any psychology course
Humanities/Social Sciences-15 semester hours
Any combination of 15 hours from the following departments:
Sociology, History, Anthropology, Speech, Psychology, Music appreciation, Art appreciation, Geography, English, Foreign Language, Humanities, Philosophy, Classical Studies, Mass Communication
