Paul Barlett, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Barlett received his B.S. degree in biology and M.S. degree in biology/physiology from the University of Akron in Ohio. His Ph.D. is from Ohio State University, where his area of study was anatomy/embryology and his research interest was in teratology studying the effects of maternal diabetes on heart development. Barlett completed a two-year post-doctorate program in reproductive toxicology at the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio. He joined the faculty at Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1987 and currently serves as academic dean and professor of anatomy in the Basic Sciences Department. Throughout the years, he has taught all the anatomy classes that are part of the College’s curriculum. His outside interests include competitive power lifting and running.

Jill Davis, B.A, M.A., D.C.

Dr. Davis has a B.A. degree in biology and art from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She also holds a M.A. degree in physiology from the University of Kansas. She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Cleveland Chiropractic College, Kansas City (CCCKC) in 2007. Davis serves as chair of the College’s Basic Sciences Department, and is an associate professor in physiology. She teaches Cell Physiology, Cardiovascular/Pulmonary Physiology and Immunobiology. In 2006, Davis was an editor and contributor to the textbook Mosby’s Review Questions for the NBCE Examination: Parts I & II. Her outside interests include singing in her church choir. She also enjoys playing piano, flute, guitar, harp, harmonica and saxophone.

Geracimo Bracho, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Bracho received his B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and M.S. degree in food science from the University of California, Davis. He also earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from UC Davis, where he later completed a postdoctoral program on Pacific rockfish muscle collagen and collagenases. Prior to joining the faculty at Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1999, Bracho worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center for 10 years. As an associate professor in the Basic Sciences Department, he teaches Biochemistry I, Biochemistry II and Basic Nutrition. While not in the classroom, Bracho enjoys cooking, dancing, playing soccer and woodworking.

David L. Deupree, B.A., M.A., Ph.D.

Dr. Deupree has a B.A. degree in psychology from Fresno State College. He also holds a M.A. degree in psychology from the University of Arizona. His Ph.D. is from the University of Arizona, where his area of study was psychology and neuroscience. Deupree started at Cleveland in 1999 and serves as an associate professor in the Basic Sciences Department. Prior to joining the College, Deupree taught at the University of Kansas and the California College of Podiatric Medicine. His professional interests include neuroscience and physiology. When he’s not teaching, Deupree enjoys reading and taking walks.

Sabiha Jawaid, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Jawaid holds a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees from University of Karachi in Pakistan. She also earned a Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland UK. Prior to joining the faculty at Cleveland Chiropractic College-Kansas City (CCCKC) in 2006, Jawaid did postdoctoral research on neuromuscular disorders at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa. As an instructor in CCCKC’s Basic Sciences Department, she teaches Systemic Anatomy, Extremity Anatomy, Head & Neck Anatomy and Thorax/Abdomen/Pelvis Anatomy. While not in the classroom, Jawaid enjoys reading.

Stephen P. Larsen, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Larsen is a professor of anatomy and has been with the College since 1995. He has a B.S. degree in biology and chemistry and a master’s in medical microbiology from Texas Christian University. He earned a Ph.D. in cell biology from North Texas State University, where he focused on cell culture and electron microscope techniques to evaluate analogues of plant growth regulators. Larsen has since completed additional training in human anatomy, including gross anatomy, histology and embryology, and has taught these and other biomedical courses to licensed health care practitioners. He is a member of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists and is interested in research, which supports the diagnosis and treatment of chiropractic lesions. At CCCKC, he teaches Embryology and Histology. In his spare time, Larsen enjoys sport flying and restoring vintage aircraft, sports cars and motorcycles.

Adi Virji, B.A., M.A., Ph.D.

Dr. Virji has a BPharm degree from the University of Bombay, India. His Ph.D. is from the University of London, England, where his area of study was medicinal chemistry. Virji accepted his first teaching assignment at the University of Otago Medical School in Dunedin, New Zealand. After four years of teaching and research, he enrolled in the Clinical Pathology program at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, Calif. He is licensed as a Clinical Scientist by the state of California. Virji has published 20 research papers and has completed more than 100 unpublished projects in academia and industry. He joined the Cleveland faculty in 2003 and is an associate professor in the Basic Sciences Department, teaching Pathology, Toxicology, Clinical Laboratory Diagnosis and Clinical Nutrition. Outside of the classroom and lab, Virji enjoys cooking, music, arts and literature.
